Raspberry Pi arrived
Today my RaspBerry Pi has arrived at my home finally. It was nice small package with really nice box. The main Raspberry is only few millimeters bigger then normal credit card. I'm very happy I have it :)
For those who do not know what the RaspBerry Pi is, here is a small help:
Raspberry is small - credit card sized - ARM based microcomputer. The creators wanted to show the world that creating of this "powerful" microcomputer can be very cheap (and many other things, of course...). They succeeded. RB is being sold very easily. The price for the B model is 35$. The parameters are:
- Broadcom BCM2835 700MHz ARM1176JZFS processor with FPU and Videocore 4 GPU
- GPU provides Open GL ES 2.0, hardware-accelerated OpenVG, and 1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode
- GPU is capable of 1Gpixel/s, 1.5Gtexel/s or 24GFLOPs with texture filtering and DMA infrastructure
- 256MB RAM
- Boots from SD card, running the Fedora version of Linux
- 10/100 BaseT Ethernet socket

I wanted to test my RBP but all of my memory cards are incompatibile with it (are smaller and the other damage the filesystem). For now I can say that it works - boot starts successfully and monitor shows booting information. I wish I can test it more today, but I really couldn't. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a new memory card, so you can await my first test report tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
